Choose the best file format
Use the clearest original available and understand how images, PDFs and screenshots behave.
About 4 minutes
Step by step
Follow the safe route
- 1
Use the original PDF for emailed invoices and digital receipts when available.
- 2
Use JPG, PNG or WebP for photographs, keeping enough resolution for small print.
- 3
Use screenshots only when the original document cannot be downloaded, and include the complete screen context.
- 4
Upload every page of a multi-page document in the correct order.
- 5
Open the saved original in Scan Review to make sure it remains readable.
Helpful tips
- PDFs can take longer because whole-document OCR may run asynchronously.
Important boundaries
- Do not convert a readable original into a heavily compressed image merely to reduce file size.
Questions people ask
Can I upload a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Preserve all pages in order. PDFs may take more than one worker cycle because whole-document OCR can be asynchronous.
