Questions people ask
Is a photo of a receipt automatically legally valid?
A clear photo can preserve useful evidence, but acceptance depends on the purpose and the information shown. Capshur keeps the complete original capture and audit trail, but it does not guarantee acceptance by HMRC, a retailer, insurer, warranty provider or court.
Should I throw away the paper receipt?
Capshur should never tell you to discard an original automatically. Keep important, high-value, specialist or specifically requested originals. Your accountant, retailer, insurer or regulator may have additional requirements.
Is a receipt the only proof of purchase?
No. Government guidance notes that proof could also include a bank statement or packaging. A retailer can still check the evidence and its own voluntary return policy may differ from statutory rights.
